How to Wash & Care for Cashmere
Cashmere is one of nature's most luxurious fibres — and with the right care, a quality piece can last a lifetime. At PRATI, our cashmere ponchos, scarves, sweaters, and lounge pants are crafted to be worn season after season. Here's how to keep them looking and feeling exceptional.
Hand Washing (Recommended)
Fill a basin with cool water (max 30°C) and a small amount of gentle wool or cashmere-specific detergent. Submerge the garment and gently swirl — never rub or wring. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until the water runs clear.
Machine Washing
If your machine has a wool or delicate cycle, you can use it — but always place the garment in a mesh laundry bag and use cold water. Avoid spin cycles above 400 RPM.
Drying
Never tumble dry cashmere. Gently press out excess water (don't wring), then lay the garment flat on a clean towel in its natural shape. Reshape while damp and leave to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat.
Storing Cashmere
Fold — never hang — cashmere to prevent stretching. Store in a breathable cotton bag or drawer. Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets to deter moths naturally.
Pilling
Pilling is natural, especially in early use. Use a cashmere comb or fabric shaver to gently remove pills and restore a like-new finish.
